UNDER THE AUSPICES OF ÞÓRR
On completion of the induction process, a new recruit may take part in regular show combat training sessions. Although not essential for all Ormsgard activities, Probationers and Members are encouraged to maintain and improve their physical fitness. To this end, training classes include vigorous warm-ups, warm-downs, stretching and other appropriate combat drills and exercises. This improves the quality and spectacle of Dark Ages Theatre, promotes a safer training environment and maintains the general health and well-being of the membership.
Specific physical benefits include:
Increased flexibility and weight control
Increased strength, power and stamina
Improved reflexes and co-ordination
Increased cardiovascular efficiency
At the highest level this training cultivates

UNDER THE AUSPICES OF ÓÐINN
All new recruits (Probationers) working towards
Warband Membership will have the opportunity to work through
various weaponry and related techniques but
will be expected to achieve a minimum level of competency with one before
moving on to the next.
Specific psychological benefits of Warband training include:
Improved body & spatial awareness
Self-defence techniques
Positive mental attitude
Improved concentration
Stress reduction
Increased relaxation
Increased self-control
Increased self-discipline
At the highest level this training may cultivate
'Óðr' the 'Furious-Inspiration' of Óðinn.
UNDER THE AUSPICES OF FRIGG
Not all our members chose to take up arms as
combatants, preferring to dedicate their time and effort to the mastery
of traditional crafts and skills such as:
making costume, scenery & props
making armour & accessories
making trade goods, gifts & memorabilia
spinning & weaving
tapestry, sewing & embroidery
wood & horn working
leatherwork
jewellery
pottery
fletching
basic weapons/armour repair & cleaning
dance/drama research & choreography
cooking
organising feast activities
organising group visits
general Dark Ages research projects
UNDER THE AUSPICES OF FREYJA
Full-Members who prove themselves worthy may
apply or be invited to undergo a course in Ancient Germanic magical arts.
Specific studies may include:
Runes
Spell-songs
The Seiðr Séance
Sitting-out
Talismans
UNDER THE AUSPICES OF BRAGI
Exceptional Full-Members who have displayed
the potential for Leadership may apply or be invited to undergo a course
in Ancient Germanic religious traditions.
